Chinese herbal soups


I bought a packet of Chinese herbal soup last month. It has a strong aroma. Today the strong aroma has decreased a lot. If I make the soup, will I still benefit from it?


Are you talking about a packet of dried herbs or powder or are you talking about a liquid based soup? If it is liquid I would think it probably best to discard. For dried herbs/powder it would still be fine. They basically never go bad but the potency will decrease over time. But a month isn’t very long.


It depends on how the powder is stored and when it was fine-ground. Is it stored in an airtight container? If not, it will loose its potency very quickly.
